Dr. Escalante is Assistant Professor at the Universidad del Norte in Colombia. Dr. Escalante-Barrios research areas include early childhood education, child development and cross-cultural research methods: mixed methods. Dr. Escalante completed her PhD in Human Sciences at University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she completed the Mixed Methods Research Certificate. Her dissertation was awarded a Patrice Engle Dissertation Award for Global Early Child Development from the Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD) for her mixed methods cross-cultural multiple case study about feeding practices in Latino population. She is currently the president of ALIMM (Latin American Mixed Methods Research Association).
