Qualitative Research Workshop on Grounded theory in Osaka, Japan

A Qualitative Research Workshop on Grounded Theory
An introduction to the details of conducting qualitative data analysis and to the steps in conducting a rigorous grounded theory

Date: October 19 & 20, 2019
Location: 4-7-11 D▶HB 4F, Dosho machi, Chuo-ku, Osaka, JAPAN 〒541-0045 (downtown Osaka, Japan at the Resonance Laboratory)

After the successful and popular qualitative workshop offered last April 13 & 14, 2019 in Osaka, Dr. Creswell and colleagues have decided to hold another workshop this fall that focuses on the steps of conducting a scholarly grounded theory study.

Topic and Facilitation:
This workshop will focus on the qualitative approach called “Grounded Theory” and the use of qualitative data analysis and coding within that approach. “Grounded Theory” is popular internationally and in Japan. We have invited Dr. Wayne Babchuk, PhD, Anthropologist and Educator leading grounded theory writer from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA, to help facilitate this workshop. In addition, the workshop will be facilitated by John W. Creswell, PhD, the University of Michigan, USA,  Mixed Methods Program, Mariko Hirose, PhD of Kwansei Gakuin University, Japan, and the collaborator, Keiichi Narita, PhD of Kyoto University, Japan.  Sequential interpretation in English and Japanese will be provided.

Type of Participants:

The workshop is open to individuals interested in research from the health and social sciences from any country in the world. No prior knowledge of qualitative research is necessary. There will be some recommended short reading materials sent prior to the workshop. Because space is small, participation is limited to the first 25 persons to register.

REGISTRATION:
  • JPN 35,000 Yen or US $310 (includes refreshments)
  • Please contact Tomoko Toyota (toyota@nekotosho.jp) for registration materials
