Faculty Profile
Lisa Wexler, PhD, MSW. Professor of SSW and ISR, Dr Wexler's participatory research program focuses on understanding community, family and personal strengths in order to develop culturally-responsive, multilevel approaches to address youth suicide and promote wellness in Indigenous communities. Her methodological strengths include ethnographic, narrative, digital and community-based participatory methods. She has conducted studies using mixed methods, including digital storytelling, surveys, PhotoVoice, life course and targeted interviews, focus groups, social network analyses. Focused on Indigenous suicide prevention in rural and remote contexts, Dr. Wexler’s research responds to community priorities and scientific impact with an emphasis on practical application of findings.
