Do you have to be affiliated with the University of Michigan to attend?
Our workshops are open to all scholars regardless of whether or not they have a UM affiliation, and we have both presenters and attendees from all over the world.
Is there a discount for Students or U-M affiliates?
Yes. Proof of student status (ex: scan of ID w/ expiration date, enrollment/appointment letter, etc) is required to receive the student rate and complete registration. Discounts are also available for University of Michigan Department of Family Medicine and IHPI members (please email [email protected]).
Are scholarships or Fee waivers available?
Scholarships are available for scholars from low- and middle- income countries and scholars for U.S. based doctoral students enrolled full-time in a US program. Our scholarship application period is once a year (typically in early winter). If you have missed the deadline, sign up for our mailing list. We do not offer fee waivers.
What is the time commitment?
Workshop time commitments vary and may change; they are anywhere from half-a-day to 3 days. For most workshops you can expect a full-day commitment, running from 10:30 am to the late afternoon US Eastern Time (with short breaks). You may have readings and pre-work depending on the workshop.
why choose the mixed methods program workshop?
The University of Michigan Mixed Methods workshop is interactive; participants are taught by faculty who are leading experts in Mixed Methods research. Participants also receive individual feedback on their project in small group consultations with faculty, and have access to a Canvas site with recordings of the live lessons and a wealth of other resources.
Is this workshop ONLY FOR the health sciences?
Our workshops are interdisciplinary. While many of our presenters have a health sciences background, our participants are from various fields including health sciences, education, psychology and other social science fields.
if COST is a barrier
If you do not have funding to attend our workshops, consider joining our mailing list to be notified when the scholarship application period opens. In addition, we urge you to sign up for QMMLL (the Qualitative and Mixed Methods Learning Lab), a free, twice-monthly zoom learning event. MMIRA (the Mixed Methods International Research Association) also offers a special graduate student membership rate and free webinars for members taught by leaders in the field.
